Black people have tirelessly contributed to the building and rebuilding of this country for many years but after all this time WHAT HAVE WE GOT TO SHOW FOR IT. Not only are we behind in comparison to other nations who have come many years after us but we are struggling to keep up the momentum our parents had when they came here to post war Britain.
With the closing of nearly all the community centers and after school clubs, combined with the exclusion rate of our children from education and lack of opportunities to encourage new businesses and entrepreneurs to compete on a level playing field its time for us to take control of our own destiny.
For a number of reasons, too many of our children are left to wander the streets making themselves targets for the authorities or easy recruiting options for the increasing gang culture. Our elders are often found killing time in the warmth of betting shops or congregating outside the businesses of other cultures as they were ill prepared financially to cope with life in this country after they had exceeded their working lifespan.
The levels of unemployment and lack of opportunities for our school leavers and post graduates are unacceptable and mental health is on the rise.
If we had a building of our own we could alleviate many of these problems with job creation programmes, business work spaces, educational classes and community beneficial workshops. The lack of rent would also free up funds for many other projects and equipment, while the security of ownership would not only be of financial benefit, from the day of purchase moving forward, but as an investment for future generations to use.
With approximately 2 million black people in this country, if we all donated a few pounds each we could have the funds we need giving us the buying power and the freedom to purchase anything we wanted within a few months.
Black Brits Ltd have been consistently facilitating events to help our community which is why we have set up an official account to collect all donations no matter how large or small to make this happen.
